(Ancient) Greece is the World: An introduction to a great civilization





Today in class, Mr. Schick instructed the students to take notes on a slide presentation he prepared for us. The slide presentation was a new topic on '(Ancient) Greece is the World'. Great civilizations/key rivers. Mesopotamia/Tigris and Euphrates river. Egypt/Nile river. India/Indus river. China/Huang river. Test question: What bodies of water surround Greece? Those were all the notes that I had took on the slideshow. After that, the people who needed to take notes from the textbook, took notes during that time, on pages 118-126. This next piece of context is the notes I took so far though, I don't think I am entirely finished it. New directions in government and society 2000 B.C-A. D 700. Classical Greece. In the Greek city-state of Athens, a new form of government developed democracy- in which citizens exercise power. Alexander the Great spread Greek culture throughout much of Asia. Greek, Egyptian, and Asian cultures then blended to create Hellenistic culture. Athens assumed control of a defense League and eventually built it into an empire. Later, Alexander conquered the Persian Empire and beyond to create a vast empire of his own. Cultures of the Mountains and the Sea. Those were all of the notes I took so far in the assigned textbook pages. That is mostly all we did today in class.
